Following my move to the UK, I began searching for a long-form project to combine my hand-lettering alongside my new artistic interests.

During this transitory period, I found myself spending far too much time in the kitchen each weekend, stirring up soups, burning through pans and recreating recipes that reminded me of home. As a result, I decided to hand-letter the ingredients of a dish I made, every few weeks.

The conceptual Eating My Words series became a way to address my homesickness through my relationship with food (vis-a-vis family recipes) and my interest in ceramics and lettering. It was simply about the imperfect meals, bowls and lettering – all made by my imperfect hands.
